Stockholm : Stores & Streets

At the beginning of November, I got the chance to visit Sweden’s beautiful capital city: Stockholm.

Located in the north of the country the city is split into 17 areas. Norrmalm is probably the best area to “shop till you drop”. Gamla Stan is also very beautiful! Walking around the “old city” will transfer you into a different century - I promise!

On my trip I was focused on the amazing Sportswear stores of Stockholm but there also many great places for interior & design.

Röhnisch:

A wonderful Swedish brand which designs for women, from women. “A great look and perfect fit will inspire you to reach further.” Is one of their credos, written on their clothes labels. Whilst entering the store you get a great feel of the Swedish sensitivity of colour shades and pastel tones.

NK Stockholm & Åhlens:

These stores are the Swedish answer to Harrods & Selfridges. Maybe not the best place to grab a great bargain but worth a look. If you need to stop by the toilets of Åhlens. I bet they will be the most amazing ones you’ve ever seen! Visit the 2nd floor and walk through the interior as well. You will find many Swedish design pieces and little interior arrangements which you can’t take your eyes off! Also: take the elevator at NK, the golden mirrors give you a glance of the designs of many department stores from the 20s.

Lagerhaus:

For cute and affordable interior pieces have a look at Lagerhaus. The stores are spread all around the city. Inside you will find different themed sections with matching stationery and accessories for kitchen, bath and bedroom.

Food:

If you get the chance to travel you definitely have to try some of the Swedish sweet classics: My favourites are kanelbullar. Enjoy this sweet cinnamon roll for breakfast or in the afternoon “Fika”. There’s even a national day to celebrate this pastry.

If you find a supermarket. Get crazy and mix yourself a big bag of “Godis” to sweeten up the day.

It took me only 2 days to fall in love with this amazing city. I really enjoyed the friendly people and the wide streets to explore every corner. The food is amazing and the stores are an excellent inspiration! If you haven’t made up your mind about your next City-Trip. Do yourself a favour and visit Stockholm!
